Lazy Day!

We had a lazy day yesterday and it was SO enjoyable! :) I only did one load of laundry and didn't clean at all. :) When he naps I feel the pressure to get things done...but not today. I enjoyed being a mommy and that was it. :) We slept in, watched Ellen, had fun with BeeBee, and then went to a fun dinner at Saul Good. Mommy didn't cook either! :) Today is super busy...I hope we can adjust to the change! hehe

Naked baby! I love his face here! :)

I love when he talks to me...whether he's happy or frustrated. :)

Collins has gained another nickname! They say the more nicknames you have...the more you are loved! Well, he is SUPER loved! I have started calling him gummy bear. When he opens his mouth all you see is gums! I love this toothless look!

Just some random pics! :)

All snuggled up!

PS: Just an update on the bible reading challenge. I've stayed true to my goal and have read two chapters a night. I've started with MARK and have loved reading about how Jesus heals the sick. People were flocking to him and at times it seemed dangerous! As I was reading this I couldn't help but think of how crazy our society has gotten. People flock and run to celebrities and what healing can they give us??? If Jesus was walking around the streets I'd much rather run to him. He's done so much for me!

Little Panther Fan

That he is! We headed to Indy this weekend for Papaw's state tournament game! And...Bloomington South won! Thanks to Mrs. Hulls for the awesome South and IU onesies. I think it's good luck when a 6 week old sports the team's colors and name! I even got a new Bloomington South sweatshirt to wear to the game! (Check out the mommy sack! I've always wanted one of these and they are actually pretty comfortable! Pregnant friends out there...you need one!)
The new sweatshirt!

Collins is ready for the game!

The mommy sack...it made carrying him and getting to the game easy!

Before all of this, we drove to Bloomington on Friday night and got to hang out with Grandma and Papaw Waltz. Papaw even took the 4:30-6:00am awake time shift! I'm working hard on getting Collins to sleep during this time, but it's prime awake time for little baby. :)He'll close his eyes, but he won't go into a deep sleep. :)

Collins in his portable bed!

Saturday afternoon we headed to Indy and had fun hanging out at the Embassy Suites with the fam and Kyle! Kyle is a dear friend from DePauw and we love being around him and and wife, Danielle! Kyle, thanks for coming to see bitty baby! Danielle, we missed seeing you and can't wait for you to meet him! :)

Kyle and Collins!

The game was a blast and Bloomington South made it look easy. I believe Trent said that the graduating seniors have won 94 games and lost 5. This is incredible! I can't wait to watch Collins play a sport someday. I'll be his biggest fan!

We drove home early Sunday morning to make it to 10:30 church. I got to sing four of the most beautiful songs. Look up the song HEALER by Kari _______. I can't think of her last name, but please look for it. It's about Jesus being our healer...nothing is impossible with Him. While the song talks about overcoming disease or hard moments, it's very uplifting. I wish I could sing all day every day for Jesus.

After church we headed to Lexmark's family day and enjoyed meeting GranPaul's work buddies. I even got to see an old student of mine. Plus, the cake was delicious!! GranPaul is supposed to see where they ordered it from! :)

Collins is growing more every day. I think he's growing cuter every day too! hehe He was my back seat buddy on the way to Indiana and back. I could watch him for days straight. His facial expressions crack me up and keep me watching for more. :) Look at his smile!

I can't believe March is almost over!

Collins wore this shirt for both grandmas on Friday. He got a picture with BeeBee, but before I could take a pic of him and Grandma Vicki he ruined it with a dirty diaper!

Nala, is that really you?!

So, in my last post I mentioned that we had sent Nala, our 90 lb, rhodesian ridgeback, off to training. It started out as a three week training, but got extended to 6 weeks due to Nala's trainer needing a minor surgery. He asked to keep her longer and while we missed her, we truly enjoyed time with Collins by himself. We didn't need an energetic dog to add to the mix! :) We went on Wednesday to pick her up and I literally had tears in my eyes. Jim is a dog whisperer. We sat in the car to watch him show us what she could do and we were amazed. She could sit, stand, lay down, walk in circles, heel, come...all with hand movements! When we got out of the car to greet Nala she even remained calm! She was excited to see us by the looks of her tail, but she knew how to act!! We went through an intense training with Jim ourselves and noticed all of the wrong things that Trent and I were doing. We got in the car and both said, "Is this our dog?" When we got home we continued to work with her and she is doing wonderfully! Mom was over yesterday and normally would be attacked and licked to death, but Nala stayed in her 'stay' position and didn't budge!

Yesterday was a super busy day! I am so thankful for my mom and dad and how close they live! Mom watched Collins most of the day and when Dad got home from work he helped too! Mom and I started out at the Little Elk's consignment sale and found lots of cute little boy clothes. He is going to be one cute baby! One little seersucker outfit had a shirt with a seersucker bow tie! hehe After the sale, I headed to Garden Springs to watch my students in the PE program! I was so excited to see them. I brought them popcorn and pop and we had a fun time catching up. I've never gotten so many hugs in my life. :) After this Trent and I headed to our DePauw get together. It's so nice to have these little reunions because 1) I miss DePauw SO much and you kind of feel like you're back and 2) I love seeing my friends! We had a good time and even had a quick dinner (just the two of us) before heading home. Thanks Mom and Dad for watching Collins and for motivating us to leave the house. :)

The DePauw event ticket!

Tonight we are headed back up to Indiana to watch Papaw's team in the STATE FINALS!!!! WOW! They will play at Conseco! Good luck Papaw! We will leave early Sunday to get back in time for church. I get to sing contemporary pieces! Oh, how I've missed this. When I sing I feel so close to Jesus. I can't wait to feel this intense love again!

One of my good friends from Dunbar and DePauw is getting married this weekend in Florida and I wish I could be there! I'm thinking about you Amy!!! This was an emotional decision and one that still saddens me. I love being a mom...I just wish I could do it all!

A few faves!
Mom sent this picture to me when she was babysitting yesterday. He's my little angel.

Thanks Andrea for the ABC nightie!! We learned our alphabet this morning! XO

Trent took this pic a couple days ago. I LOVE winding down the day with my sweet baby. When we put him in his crib at night...I miss him!

Happy Weekend!
Love, Maegan

PS: My friend Tiffany got me a Mother's Devotional Bible for a baby shower gift. I love it! Thanks Tiff! In the back it lays out a plan for reading the entire bible. I'm going to do it! There is a one year plan and a two year plan. I'm going to do the two year plan since we're a little more busy these days. I will read two chapters a day and also do the mother devotionals. Last night's devotional hit home...exactly what I needed to feel refreshed and fall asleep. :) I get nervous thinking about this challenge I've taken on, but I pray that I stay diligent and put this first along with being a mommy and a wife. Please pray for me. I'm thirsty to learn more about my faith.

It's the little things....

that make life so precious. The big blessings are easy to find, but it's the small ones that you can find more often if you really look. :) They are everywhere!

The past two days have been full of little blessings!

1. When I put my hand on his binkie to hold it in place, he puts his little hand on mine!!
2. He's learning how to hold his binkie on his own. If it's the animal ones, he holds onto the legs. If it's the plastic ones, he put his finger through the loop.
3. He smiles so much more and sometimes I wonder if he's smiling about something I'm singing or saying. We were dancing last night in the family room (Daddy thought we were silly) and he was so happy. I hope we always dance together. :)
4. Some of his newborn clothes do not fit!! He is so long. This means he's growing and he's healthy. What a blessing and a comfort for mom!! I love his double chin!!

5. I'm starting to be able to soothe him when he cries. It would take a little bit for him to calm down, but now when I hold him he almost stops immediately.
6. He really looks at us. He focuses on our faces and watches our every move. Daddy makes silly faces all the time!
7. He loves to stretch. Watching him do this is so precious. He puts his arms above his head and he makes the cutest face when he yawns.

8. He's learning how to sleep! Last night he slept 5.5 hours! This is huge!! hehe
9. The little coos that he makes melt my heart. He's trying to talk to us and I love this connection! I could listen to him all day.
10. Last but not least, I love when I'm feeding him or holding him and he reaches out to touch me. It's like he's saying, "Hey Mom, I love you." I love you too little baby.

We are picking up our other baby today (Nala) from doggy boot camp! Boy did we ever miss her, but I am so grateful that we had these past 6 weeks to get Collins settled without a 90 pound dog. I pray that this was worth it. We spent some money on this, but we prayed about it and knew that in order to protect Collins from Nala's 'excitedness' and uncontrolled body weight, we needed to do this. Her trainer called yesterday and we are picking her up at 2! It sounds intense...we are to stay in our car when we first arrive and videotape him with her. Then we have a training session and can refer to the video if needed! This makes me nervous, but he said that Nala is one of the sweetest dogs that he's ever had. He said that there is absolutely no way that she would hurt the baby. I knew this in my heart, but now I feel better. I just want her to be able to control her body weight and stop acting like a diva. :)Collins is about to gain a best friend and I'm excited to see the two of them together. I've felt like a part of our family has been missing!! Oh, and the cat? He just ignores the baby. He has his own agenda...

My six week check-up at the doctor went great! I really did work to take care of myself and I followed all of the doctors orders! She asked if I was ready to have another child and while I am (believe it or not), we will be waiting!

Some cute pics..

Like father like son...matching outfits and sleeping habits....

Oh, little baby your Aunt Sis loves you so much!

Dressed up for Wednesday night church!

Baptism Memories

The weekend couldn't have been better. It was SO wonderful spending time with both of our families...especially together. This summer we will be married 4 years and it's been neat to watch our families grow closer year after year...especially when you add a newborn into the mix! Trent and I are so lucky to have the families that we do and we appreciate all that they did this weekend to make Collins' baptism special. Thank you to Trent's sweet family and to my Papa and Mamie for driving and flying to Lexington. :)

On Friday, Trent, Mamie, Collins and I took a walk in the warm weather! So nice!

Here are a few pics from Collins' special baptism day. I cried happy tears...I knew I would! Collins was a great baby even though the church was 100 degrees. His little back was sweating through his baptismal outfit, so he probably really enjoyed having his head washed. :) He didn't make a peep! I can't wait to tell him all about the day he received God's gift of faith!

Collins wore booties and a sweater made by my grandmother and the white little boy outfit was worn by my cousin Scott at his baptism 19 years ago!

My sweet flower girls, Kyra and Rachel!

After the baptism we headed to the Chop House. Mom had reserved the back room for us and we all had a blast eating, watching basketball games on the big screen, and celebrating Collins' special day. Before we ate, I passed out a special prayer that I wrote for my sweet baby. Attached to it was a picture of Collins resting on the bible and an Easter egg (filled with candy) to represent Collins' new life. :) Thank you sweet family for praying with me and thank you in advance for adding this prayer to your daily life.

Caramandas made the cutest cupcakes! The pretty glitter added the perfect touch!

Where did Kennedi's frosting go? :)

We were overwhelmed by the wonderful gifts and cards on this beautiful day. Thank you to my sweet church and to Pastor Simmerman for making Collins' baptism memorable.

Just some faves....
His change of outfit after the baptism. A gorgeous smock made by my mom's friend Sarah.

GAP baby. :)

GranPaul and Collins time. xo

PS: Tomorrow I have my six weeks check-up! When they scheduled this date for me in the hospital it seemed so far away...time flies when you're having fun. :)
