I Remember the Turn of the Century

...like yesterday. 1999 and everyone is worried the world is going to end. I remember this night and remember thinking, "I can't believe I'm going to write 2000....that's going to take me forever to get used to!" Now, it's 2012 and when I look back on the years that have passed since 2000, I'm most thankful for the growth in my faith, my wonderful family, and the health of my mom. Eleven or so years later and I am a mom! Wow. What an incredible life I have.

I've come to rely on Proverbs 19:21 most days. :) When I couldn't get pregnant, when I couldn't decide whether to be a stay at home mommy or not, when we couldn't decide whether to move this past year for a job opportunity for my husband, and so much more. I try and try to plan everything and push the time line up for everything. I just want to get it done and I really don't like waiting. Turns out, God's plan is best! Silly me. I'd get pregnant with a beautiful baby, Trent would be offered another job that could keep us here in Lexington, and God would carve out the aching parts of my heart that loved being a teacher and fill up the holes with love for Collins. My heart has never been so full.

"Many are the plans of a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails." Proverbs 19:21
How powerful!

In my packed up classroom. Anyone that saw my classroom knows how bare this room really is. :( Collins, Trent, and Matthew helped me walk out that day. Matthew drove Collins home because our cars were packed. Probably a good thing. :)

So, this year I'm going to rest in knowing that my Lord is sovereign. I can't do ANYTHING without Him and instead of forcing decisions to be made on my timeline, I'm going to wait. I'm going to pray, and I'm going to calm down. :)

Just a few pics from our 'tacky' festive New Years. Sissy and I decorated mom's living room with a $8 box of streamers, crowns, and blowers. :)

  4. Waiting, praying, and being calm are awesome goals! As you wait and live each moment, may you recognize more of the blessings God has provided you. May your prayers be answered in unimaginable ways.

I am SO thankful that God caused our paths to cross and that I am able to keep up with you and yours across the miles.
